About Us

A Sri Lankan Construction Company Since 2000

Close to 1,200 completed projects, six regions, and twenty five years of building across Sri Lanka. BKC Constructions trades under Business Registration No. G/15/3802.

Our Story

BKC Constructions was founded in 2000 and has worked as a building contractor in Sri Lanka ever since. Over twenty five years we have grown from taking on individual jobs into a company with close to 1,200 completed projects, spanning everything from a single room repair to a full commercial building.

That work has taken us across six regions. Colombo brings offices, shops and city housing. The southern coastal belt through Galle, Matara and Hambantota brings villas, guest houses and hotel work, along with family homes. Central Province brings hill country sites where the ground itself sets the terms, and Eastern Province brings construction and renovation in a part of the island that has been rebuilding and growing for years.

The work runs across both the private and the public sector. Alongside houses, hotels and commercial premises, we take on government contracts, including road construction and the drainage and earthworks that come with it. Public sector work is a different discipline, with fixed specifications, heavier documentation and stage by stage certification, and being able to operate on both sides has kept the company steady through quieter periods in either one.

We handle the full lifecycle of a project rather than one slice of it: the first quote and site visit, architectural and structural planning, the construction itself, and the repairs, renovations and cleanups that follow once a building is in use. Clients deal with one contractor throughout, which is usually the difference between a job that moves and a job that stalls.

Where We Learned the Trade

Before BKC Constructions existed, members of our team spent their early careers on site with other contractors, and that work included buildings designed by Geoffrey Bawa, the most influential architect Sri Lanka has produced. This was in the years before we founded the company in 2000, under other employers, and we claim no part in the design of those buildings.

What came out of it was an education in how much the detail matters. How a building should sit on its own ground rather than fight it, how light and air should move through it, how a veranda or a stair or a courtyard changes the way a place is actually lived in, and how much of the finished result rests on the quality of the work carried out on site rather than the drawing. Those are lessons you absorb by doing the work, not by reading about it.

That standard is the one we brought with us when we started on our own, and it is the one we still hold our sites to. It is also why so much of our work has ended up being villas, guest houses and hotels along the southern coast, which is the kind of building that part of the island does best.

Areas We Serve

We build across six regions of Sri Lanka. If your site sits near the edge of one of them, ask anyway.

Construction in Colombo

The commercial centre of the country, and the densest work we take on. Offices, shops and showrooms, apartment and city housing work, fit outs within existing buildings, and renovation of older property. City sites bring tight access, neighbours either side and strict programme dates, all of which have to be planned around rather than discovered on the day.

Construction in Galle

Our southern coastal base, and the heart of the hospitality work we do. Villas, guest houses, boutique hotels and private homes, plus refurbishment of existing coastal property. Building this close to the sea means planning for salt, humidity and heavy monsoon rain in the choice of materials and the detailing, not treating them as an afterthought.

Construction in Matara

New houses, extensions, boundary walls and commercial units across the Matara district, along with repair and renovation of existing buildings. Matara mixes coastal sites with inland plots a short distance from the shore, so the right build for one street is not always the right build two kilometres away.

Construction in Hambantota

One of the faster growing parts of the south, with residential and commercial building to match. We take on new homes, commercial premises and renovation work across the district. The drier climate and open sites here make for different ground and drainage conditions than the wetter coast further west.

Construction in Central Province

Hill country building, where the ground sets the terms. Sloped plots need retaining walls, terracing and foundation design suited to the gradient, and access for materials often has to be solved before work can begin. We build houses and commercial property across the province, as well as renovation of older hill country buildings.

Construction in Eastern Province

Construction, repair and renovation across the eastern districts, a region that has been rebuilding and expanding steadily. Work here runs from family homes and extensions through to commercial premises, with the same quoting and site visit process we use everywhere else we operate.

How We Work

Every project starts the same way: a free site visit, a clear scope and a written quote, so there are no surprises once work begins. We would rather spend an hour on site before quoting than revise a number halfway through a build.

From there the job runs through one team. We keep the client informed about where things stand rather than waiting to be chased, and we stay reachable after handover, because a contractor who disappears once the final payment clears is not much use when something needs attention six months later. Whether it is a small repair or a full commercial build, the standard is the same.
